It was a dark and stormy night.
“What a cliché,” Colin said, ignoring the thunder. He was driving an old pickup down a road through a deep, dark forest. The moon still shone brightly, partially obscured by the clouds, but the sounds of distant thunder and flash of brilliant blue lightening illuminating the sky spoke of worse things coming.
“What was that?” Sophie said. She was a short, pale woman with long brown hair. She rode beside him in the old pickup truck they were taking to their cottage.
“Nothing, sweetie,” he said, smiling. His expression didn’t touch his eyes, however, and Sophie knew h
Ben was awoken by a loud crackling noise. He sat up in bed, disoriented, and tried to figure out what could have caused the strange, but oddly familiar sound. Deciding that it must have been thunder, he stood up and walked toward the window. He peered through the blinds, to look for any other signs of a storm, but it was too dark to see anything.
Turning back toward his bed, Ben began to feel the after-effect of the two glasses of water that he drank before going to bed. He walked out of his bedroom, making sure to close the door behind him to keep his cat, Lucy, from wandering in, and navigated the hallway in the dim light provided by a few
THE BOOGEYMAN
The first victim was found at the middle of the school yard. Fifteen year old Susan Banning was discovered-by Harper Billings a passing mechanic-with her throat deep cut to the bone with multiple stab wound over abdomen and chest and a puddle of blood covered the hopscotch grid.
He phoned Nine,Nine,Nine and soon the police arrived along with the paramedics, a detective named Brody Aling, approached Harper and began to ask him a couple of questions.
